COURSE DETAILS:

This nationally recognised advanced first aid training course covers a broad range of topics to enable participants to respond to advanced first aid situations and manage the incident and other first aiders until an ambulance or other medical support arrives.

Course Inclusions:

Face to face training conducted by an experienced Emergency Services instructor with strong knowledge of relevant legislation, Australian Standards, and first aid techniques
One day (approx. 8 hours) of hands-on, practical training.
Recommendations and advice for specialised PPE and first aid equipment for your particular workplace

Course Outline:

The key areas covered by this course include

First aider responsibilities and basic principles of first aid
Safely moving casualties and management of the spine
Primary and secondary surveys
Monitoring of vital signs
Basic triage for multiple casualty incidents
Advanced CPR techniques
Management of life-threatening bleeding
Management of crush injuries, abdominal injuries, internal bleeding and ear injuries
Assisting with childbirth
Responding to substance abuse incidents
Workplace incident reporting requirements
Post-incident debrief and evaluation

Reaccreditation:

First aid refresher training is recommended every three years.
